NGC457 Owl Cluster
An image of NGC 457—better known as the Owl Cluster or the E.T. Cluster—a bright open star cluster located in the constellation Cassiopeia, at a distance of 7,900 light-years from Earth. It is relatively young, approximately 21 million years old, and has a visual magnitude of 6.4. Two bright stars positioned side-by-side form the owl’s striking, glowing eyes: the brighter one is Phi Cassiopeia, and the other is HD 7902. In the upper right corner, NGC 436 is also visible. I managed to capture an hour’s worth of data despite intermittent cloud cover, using 10-second sub-exposures (with 123 frames rejected because no stars were detected). The image was processed using the Seestar app and Snapseed, and I added the owl’s features using the Samsung Photo Editor. 😊
